CHOOSE YOUR BASE
Slow mornings. Endless possibilities.
Bali offers very different stays depending on where you settle. Ubud lends itself to green landscapes and a slower pace, while the southern coast draws travelers looking for beaches and sunset dinners. Plan around the experiences you want rather than trying to cross the island every day.
Which area fits your trip?
Ubud and the surrounding villages
An inland base for galleries and Balinese arts. Check whether a property is in the center or outside it; an attractive rural setting can change how you reach meals and activities.
Sanur
An east-facing coastal area with a shoreline walking path. Consider it when you want beach walks to be part of the day, then verify the individual hotel’s actual route to the shore.
Nusa Dua
A southern coastal area with hotels and resort facilities. Compare what is included in the selected room, and whether a beach, pool or dining venue shown in photographs is available to that booking.
Plan the journeys between
Plan Bali by area. Changing bases can make sense on a longer trip, but each move needs packing and transfer time. For a short stay, build days around one base and confirm transport arrangements before adding a distant activity.
Before you choose your stay
A property’s Bali label does not establish beach access or proximity to Ubud. Read the full address and room inclusions. For stays split between two areas, compare the extra transfer against the time you would otherwise spend traveling each day.
Compare the full stay cost and transport needs. A peaceful location may mean arranging a driver for day trips.
